Still waiting for answer
• I HAVE been writing to councillors, via the Tribune, on a bi-weekly basis since June 1 in regard to the possible closure in October of the Finsbury Computer Skills Centre based at Finsbury Library.
I and other correspondents have not ceased in our praise of the centre, pointing out what a valuable resource it is to the community, not least in providing computer skills to people who have been made redundant, thus enabling them to return to work.
Only Councillor Ruth Polling responded to my letters. She wrote one letter dated July 6. Her response was unclear in places so I wrote on July 13 asking her to clarify the phrase “the council is looking at other ways of providing some computer training in partnership with other providers of similar services locally”.
In the same letter I asked if the council would be prepared to fund the centre if a grant is not forthcoming from an outside agency. I ended by saying students at the centre would welcome an opportunity to meet councillors.
Cllr Polling has not had the courtesy to answer my letter despite having been given eight weeks to do so. Council-employed staff are required to acknowledge letters six to 10 working days after they have been received. Councillors are certainly not leading staff by example.
I am lodging yet another complaint with Liberal Democrat headquarters and I am exploring other complaints procedures open to constituents whose so-called representatives fail to represent their interests.
