Former hostage set to speak on Iraq ordeal
PEACE activist Norman Kember will talk about his ordeal as an Iraq hostage, at Housmans bookshop in King’s Cross on Wednesday. The 76-year-old made international headlines when he was captured by insurgents in November 2005. A daring raid by the SAS freed the former professor in March the following year.
Mr Kember has now written a book about his experience.
He will read extracts from Hostage In Iraq, as well as holding an informal question-and-answer section. The free talk at 7pm will form part of Peace Month at the Caledonian Road shop which last week featured CND chairwoman Kate Hudson.
