Flats in decline
• IT was presumably with honourable intent that Arsenal Football Club allowed public sector housing (Liam House) to be built next to its Highbury House headquarters in Drayton Park.
How it must now rue that decision. In the six months since the block was completed, the flats are already showing signs of vandalism, long-term decline and disrepair.
The flower bed, well planted six months ago, is now unattended and completely overgrown. The block provides testament to the indifferent and incompetent management of the public-sector housing stock.
But will Arsenal really care? Will Keith Edelman, Arsenal’s chief executive, be disappointed by this deterioration? Unlikely.
I suspect that Mr Edelman and the other Arsenal luminaries will not even be aware of the situation as they are driven to their car parking spaces within the stadium. NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED
