£100,000 drugs found in table
NEARLY £100,000 of cannabis imported from South Africa has been discovered hidden in a table at a flat on a Holloway estate. A late-night police raid found the 90kg haul – individually wrapped in 90 packets – stashed under the false base of a table in a crate at the car park of an estate off Chambers Road earlier this month.
Detective Inspector Mark Gower, of Islington police, said: “It’s the largest haul I’m aware of since I’ve been in Islington. “This is a significant amount of drugs destined to cause great damage to the community. This seizure will have a considerable impact on the criminal network concerned. This was an expertly executed operation by borough officers.”
Three men have appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court charged with offences concerning the importation and possession of 90kg of cannabis.
