Stop counting envelopes, clean the streets
• I would be grateful if Councillor Lucy Watt, the Lib Dem in charge of environment at Islington Council, could send the Tribune a copy of her job description.
I would very much like to know where it says that her role, which we pay her £46,000 a year for, involves “counting the number of envelopes the local MP uses” (Inquiry rules MP’s action was ‘unwise’, November 2).
Why doesn’t Cllr Watt spend her time doing the job we pay her for? Get out there and clean up the dog poo that is always on streets across Islington. It’s even worse these days than it was when Bridget Fox was doing her job.

• I FIRST went to see Emily Thornberry in May 2005. If she has been writing many letters in her job as an MP then lots of them have been for me.
For two-and-a-half years now she has been helping me to get the chance to work in London.
Emily has never given up on me, and this year the Home Office finally gave me permission to work in the UK. I now work as a full-time carer, and would not have had this chance without Emily’s hard work.
Emily did a splendid job for me. Without Emily’s support I could be in the middle of nowhere. I really appreciate her help.
