Artists’ murals salute to St Pancras
YOUNG artists have been inspired by the newly-reopened St Pancras station to create a series of colourful murals.
An exhibition of the work of the King’s Cross artists – members of the Copenhagen Youth Project – can be seen at 334 Caledonian Road until December 14. Elijah Rogachevski and Jari Kennedy’s paintings of King’s Cross and St Pancras helped win the exhibition funding from Arrivals international arts festival fund.
The murals were shown on a float at the Lord Mayor’s Show last month. Artist and senior manager Gill Calvert said: “We’re always strapped for cash and the Lord Mayor’s grant didn’t cover costs. But we decided we’d invest money in the float to bring the project to the attention of potential business sponsors.”
