10th birthday bash for Wild club night

THE Wild Bunch club nights for people with learning difficulties is set to celebrate its 10th birthday tonight (Friday).
The club became only the second of its kind in the world when it was founded in 1997 and has come a long way from its humble origins.
Manager Louise Wallis said: “It’s a local club with an international reputation. It plays a crucial role in combating the social isolation faced by people with learning difficulties, as well as offering much-needed performance opportunities to talented learning-disabled DJs and music producers.”
The night was originally launched to allow people with learning difficulties to enjoy a night out, away from the prejudices and access problems that can make mainstream clubs a real struggle.
Islington Mayor Barbara Smith will be among the guests on the tonight to celebrate help celebrate a club that has attracted widespread media attention during its 10 years.
Organised by the Elfrida Society, the night will take place at The Rocket at London Met University, and starts at 7pm. Tickets are £5 on the door.
