Good Ruck with the loyalties…
ARSENAL legend Bob Wilson has trawled the annals of sporting lexicon to help demystify the origins of some of the most baffling sports-speak. Rucks, Pucks & Sliders is the follow-up to last year’s bestseller Googlies, Nutmegs & Bogeys and makes the perfect stocking-filler for any self-respecting sports fan.
It could put an end to pub-quiz head scratching for good – you will be able to explain what a 99 call is, why Fulham are called the Cottagers and who the Three Finger Brown was without hesitation.
Speaking at the book launch Mr Wilson said: “The first book was a runaway success and my kids have been pestering me to write another one. It’s not a hefty tome – more what I would call a ‘reading on the loo’ book and it should keep you amused. “I had to give up the football because my back was getting a bit cranky but this has kept me busy.”
All royalties from the book go towards the Willow Foundation – the charity Mr Wilson set up in memory of his daughter Anna who died of cancer aged 31.
