Children from St Luke's Primary get ready for the big day

Funky festivities are in full swing

ISLINGTON’S primary schools have been giving Hollywood a run for its money with stellar performances of the annual nativity play.
Children at Hanover Primary School sang and danced their hearts away on Friday with a Wriggly interpretation of the nativity.
The Wriggly version tells the story of the birth of Christ through songs, actions and dance.
Headteacher Amanda Reese said: “The children spoke out very clearly and sang with such enthusiasm. We were very pleased with the way it all came together and the way the children looked in their costumes. We got lots of positive responses from the parents. We had great teamwork from the teachers and teaching assistants putting it together”.
Meanwhile, on the other side of Upper Street, children at Thornhill Primary School, Thornhill Road, were treating parents and friends to their own version of the nativity.
Dressed in colourful outfits and full of smiles, the children wowed the audience with their acting skills.
In the south of the borough, children at St Luke’s Primary School added a twist to the festivities, including unexpected characters – such as a little old grandmother – in their cast.
Deputy headteacher Cassie Moss said: “We are very proud of all the children who participated in the performance, and St Luke’s CE Primary School is buzzing with the Christmas spirit after such a wonderful nativity play, which included funky dancing and beautiful singing. The costumes were fantastic and many parents helped out which was greatly appreciated. The staff worked really hard with the children and it is all credit to them that the play was such a success. The hall was packed full of parents, governors and family who also joined in at the end with some carol singing which got everyone in the Christmas mood.”
