Lord and Lady Kinnock have moved to be nearer their daughter
Former Labour leader moves into Tufnell Park
FORMER Labour leader Lord Kinnock and his wife Glenys have moved into a house in Tufnell Park, it has been revealed. Lady Kinnock, a Welsh MEP, said this week: “We moved to the area from Ealing, where we have lived for many years, to be closer to our daughter and our grandchildren.”
Asked if the couple were planning to enter local politics she said it was “unlikely” as they both were involved in Welsh issues.
However, Lady Kinnock added that she was aware there was just one vote between the ruling Lib Dems and the Labour opposition on Islington Council.
Lord Kinnock was made a life peer in 2005 and is titled Baron Kinnock of Bedwellty after his former Welsh constituency.
He led Labour from 1983 until 1992 and was until recently one of Britain’s EU commissioners.
A former critic of the House of Lords, he has said he would like it reformed but uses its platform to talk on issues such as higher education.
