‘Boss’ gig objectors stay secret

THE Town Hall is keeping secret the names of every person who has objected to Bruce Springsteen concerts at the Emirates stadium.
Next Wednesday’s hearing on whether or not to grant Arsenal a licence for the May concerts has attracted 144 objections. But the identities of those who have written to Islington’s licensing panel over the May concerts have been scrubbed off the agenda.
Although the Town Hall says the decision to remove the names came following a large number of requests for anonymity, only four of the blacked-out letters show residents requesting their details to be withheld.
The decision to put out a blanket censor has angered objectors.
The Rev Stephen Coles said: “If only four out of 144 people said they didn’t want their names revealed, to black out every other name seems over-precautionary.”
A Town Hall spokesman said: “A number of local residents asked for their details to be kept confidential, and the council decided to leave out everybody’s details rather than risk personal information being made public without people’s knowledge.”
