Cash aid saves threatened youth clubs
TWO Archway youth clubs have been thrown a cash lifeline after funding dried up.
The future of the clubs on the Elthorne and Miranda estates was threatened after a local area panel decided that money should be spent on security instead.
But the Town Hall’s ruling Lib Dems have now agreed to come up with funding for the youth clubs.
Labour spokesman on children, Councillor Richard Watts, said: “This is an embarrassing climbdown from the Lib Dems under pressure from Islington Labour. “We said the council should have been paying for the youth work all along because we are on the side of residents. “The Lib Dems just blamed the volunteers who give up their time to serve on the local housing panel.”
