Ken’s 24-hour travel pass pledge hailed
PENSIONERS have welcomed London Mayor Ken Livingstone’s manifesto pledge to extend the Freedom Pass to 24-hour travel.
Labour councillor Wally Burgess, who chairs Islington Council’s sustainability committee, said: “This is great news for older residents.”
Mr Livingstone has pledged, that, if re-elected in May, he will make the Freedom Pass valid for 24-hour travel on buses, Tube, rail network and trams. At present, the Freedom Pass starts at 9am, which means it cannot be used early in the morning, even for vital trips.
