Councillor Ruth Polling and St Luke’s Primary School pupils get to work in Radnor Street Gardens
Youngsters dig in to controversial park
WORK has begun on a sports pitch which has divided teenagers and pensioners over the best use of a much-loved Finsbury park.
Children from neighbouring St Luke’s Primary School gathered at Radnor Street Gardens to take part in the first day of work to transform the area with new landscaping, play equipment, sports facilities, a cherry tree grove and new
hedges.
But the news will not be welcomed by angry pensioners who protested at the plans at Islington’s South Area planning committee in August last year.
They claimed older people were being displaced to make way for noisy teenagers.
