‘Secrecy’ defended
THE row over the decision to keep secret the names of 144 objectors to Bruce Springsteen concerts at the Emirates stadium rumbled on this week after it was revealed only 19 people asked for their names not to be revealed.
Council officials blacked out the names of objectors on letters included in a licensing committee agenda for last week’s hearing.
Lib Dem executive member for public protection Councillor Marisha Ray said: “When residents ask for anonymity, we have to consider whether giving out other addresses might compromise the request. We decided it would be appropriate to make all representations anonymous except those from an organisation, and if residents wanted to waive their anonymity they were invited to do so at the licensing meeting.”
