Robber jailed for bookies raid

A BETTING shop raider who terrorised staff as they were about to close for the night has been jailed for four years.
The 31-year-old robber was caught two days later when he walked into another branch of bookmakers William Hill, where he was recognised.
Restaurant chef Baasansuren Tuyasaihan, from Holloway, had a kitchen knife with an eight-inch blade tucked into the waistband of his trousers, the Old Bailey heard.
He told detectives that all the chefs he worked with carried “the tools of their trade” with them about the streets, said prosecutor Peter Hofford.
The revelation shocked Judge Gerald Gordon, who warned Mongolian-born Tuyasaihan: “If you choose to remain in this country you must never carry a knife in public again.”
Tuyasaihan, of Holloway Road, admitted robbery at a betting shop in Euston Road, King’s Cross, on April 23 last year.
Mr Hofford said the father-of-two, who cannot be deported, forced his way into the bookies when only manager David Dobson and a woman cashier were present.
He pointed a knife towards his victims and said: “Give me all the money or I will kill you.”
Mr Hofford said: “They tried to explain there was no cash readily available. Then he lunged with the knife at the manager. Mr Dobson decided to throw £40 from his own pocket towards him.”
