Seized dog faces threat of death
THE fate of a dog seized in an early-morning police raid lies in the hands of experts who will decide if it should live or die. Police seized the dog, believed to be a prohibited breed of pit bull, from a home in Mitford Road, Finsbury Park, on Tuesday morning.
A 28-year-old man, who was seen with the dog, was arrested for breach of a 10-year court disqualification from keeping any animal and for possession of drugs. He was released on bail.
If the seized dog is found to be a prohibited breed, its owner can apply for a special exemption and have it “chipped” or tattooed. If the request is refused, the dog will be destroyed.
Officers from Tollington Safer Neighbourhoods team, the dog support unit and RSPCA executed the warrant under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
