It’s puppet love for Little Angel youngsters
STUDENT puppeteers took a bow for the first-ever academy showcase at the the Little
Angel theatre. Fourteen young people aged 11-16 were applauded by a packed audience for the amateur show Where the Wild Things Are.
The youngsters had been taught not just how to design and make their own puppets but also how perform both the voiced parts and the music.
During the spring term participants worked with a professional puppeteer, Chloe Purcell, culminating in the showcase in front of friends and family.
Slavka Jovanovic, education and participation manager, said: “Getting teenagers involved in puppetry has been an ambition of mine since the education programme began at Little Angel theatre back in 2002. “It is fantastic to finally see it realised and, alongside all our activities for younger children and adults, means that Little Angel is truly working with all age groups!”
* The academy still has places for the summer term which starts on Tuesday April 22.
