Triangle wrangle near to a conclusion
AN inquiry into Islington Council’s decision to block a major housing development on a site known as The Triangle ended on Friday.
Developers Argent Limited were trying to convince a planning inspector to turn the final piece of its £2 billion jigsaw for the King’s Cross railway lands into a
reality.
The company has permission to work on the redevelopment of the massive site behind King’s Cross and St Pancras stations in Camden but not on the neighbouring Islington side after housing chiefs threw out plans last year claiming there were too few affordable homes.
The Cally Rail Group and the King’s Cross Railway Lands Group used the planning inquiry, held in a conference centre in Holloway, to try to get the whole project thrown out.
Planning inspector David Lavender will pass his report to the secretary of state and a final decision is expected in June.
