Emilia Luczak with ‘ballerina trick’ Kluska
Got something to wag about? owners parade their pet pooches at scruffs
PET pooches showed their talents yesterday (Thursday) for the Scruffs dog show in Elthorne Park.
Owners entered their dogs in contests such as the waggiest tail competition, the agility test, tricks, the scurry race and “the one the judge wanted to take home”.
Emilia Luczak’s Jack Russell terrier, Kluska, did not take part.
Ms Luczak, from Hornsey, said: “In case you’re wondering, Kluska is Polish for dumpling. She was too shy to perform her ballerina trick – twirling in a circle on her hind legs – in front of the other dogs.”
Glenda Smart, from Hornsey, had just came back from India with Petra, a Pariah dog (street dog) and put her in “the one the judge wanted to take home” contest. Her other dog, Olivia, a lurcher and whippet cross, is a rescue dog from Battersea Dog’s Home.
Owners did not allow their dogs’ physique to hold them back. Boston terrier Rocky had no tail, but this didn’t stop Marie and Vince Cook from Holloway entering him in every competition, including the waggiest tail contest.
Kelly Barnett’s Irish terrier was raring to go, and although 15 years old was able to jump over haystacks.
