Fashion victim: McQueen
Burglars target season’s ‘must-have’ fashions
FASHION-CONSCIOUS burglars attempted to break in to designer Alexander McQueen’s head office, the Tribune can reveal. The studio of the “enfant terrible” of the design world, in Amwell Street, Clerkenwell, is the source of some of the most radical men’s and women’s wear on the catwalk and the red carpet. McQueen’s designs have been worn by the likes of David Bowie, Jude Law and Paris Hilton.
After their first attempt to force entry into the offices failed, three teenagers, wearing sweatpants, hoodies and baseball caps, returned in a white
Citroen van brandishing a crowbar at 1am, on Monday March 17. They were again unsuccessful and left emptyhanded.
Police recovered the van at the scene, where it was forensically examined.
Police have not been able to trace the owner.
No property was stolen, but the suspects caused damage to the door.
Alexander McQueen declined to comment.
