Gunners star flies flags for culture
ARSENAL’S French defender Gael Clichy judged a competition celebrating Islington’s diversity at the Emirates. The World On Our Doorstep event saw more than 60 children from 16 Islington primary schools give presentations on multiculturalism. Mr Clichy, 22, said : “The Arsenal team’s make-up is very much like that of the area where we play – speaking different languages and coming from a mixture of cultures and backgrounds.
“It’s great that we can come together at Arsenal and celebrate the differences that bring us all together – just like the players do on a matchday.”
The children were asked to design their own “squad card” giving their place of birth, nationality, flag, favourite food and hobbies.
