Boris drags his feet
• EVERYONE agrees that Highbury Corner is in desperate need of improvement. It is already one of the busiest road junctions and passenger interchanges in London and is set to get even busier.
Last month, we were all expecting to find out the results of the consultation on options for improvements to Highbury Corner carried out by the Mayor’s Transport for London.
This consultation ended in January. Proposals included improving the station and surrounding areas, relocating the post office, new areas of open space around the station and possibly closing one side of the roundabout.
But we now discover that Mayor of London Boris Johnson is sitting on the results despite promises to release them in May. So we are still completely in the dark about what will happen next and when.
Come on, Boris, get your act together. People didn’t vote for more of the same old excuses, delays and foot-dragging. Tell Islington residents what the consultation said about Highbury Corner. Only then can we move on to make the improvements residents and visitors rightly want to see.
