Partner charged with murder
THE partner of a woman whose body was discovered in a burning suitcase at the side of a motorway has been charged with her murder, an inquest heard on Tuesday. Pathologist Dr Nat Carey has established that Rahmona Ahmedin, 23, died from a stab wound to the chest between June 4 and June 6 at her flat at Peabody Square, off Essex Road, Islington, the St Pancras inquest heard. Her body, found at a Cambridgeshire lay-by on June 18, is to be returned to her family in Sweden.
Jamal Bakhit, 24, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court last week charged with murder.
A full inquest will take place after the police investigation is completed. “We are seeking people who knew her occupation, her movements and employment history around the material times of June 4 and 6,” said Detective Inspector Phil Rickells, of the homicide and serious crime directorate based in Barking.
