Cllr Greg Foxsmith at Finsbury Park hive
Councillor waxes eloquent on bees
ISLINGTON’S environment supremo heard a lecture on the importance of bumblebees at the opening of a “mega hive” in Finsbury Park. Councillor Greg Foxsmith met with bee-keepers who talked about the insects’
crucial contribution to local environment.
The Liberal Democrat was stung on the head by one of a million bees inside the hive.
Cllr Foxsmith said: “Einstein is supposed to have said that if bees disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left – no bees, then no pollination, no plants, and no man. “People with gardens can plant their garden to be attractive to birds, butterflies, and bees. And wildlife gardening definitely brings an extra dimension of beauty to your space.”
