Dwain Chambers
Sprinter to help keep young lives on track
SPRINTER Dwain Chambers has been invited to the Manor Gardens Centre in Islington on Tuesday, as a “credible role model”, to talk to young people about getting more involved in their communities. Mr Chambers, who hails from Islington, lost his bid to overturn his lifetime Olympic ban following a two-year athletics ban after using an illegal steroid.
Disability Officer, Karen Doku said: “We live in an area blighted by gangs, guns and knife crime, and many young lives on large estates in the area have already started to go off track. For them, Dwain is a credible role model.”
Ms Doku added: “Dwain made a mistake and now he’s turned his life around, and that’s what we want to promote.”
Mr Chambers will be at the Manor Gardens Centre, 6-9 Manor Gardens, N7 on Tuesday from 4.30pm.
