Online bogus drug alert

ISLINGTON’S member for the European Parliament has warned of the increase in bogus drugs being sold to unsuspecting patients through the internet.
Liberal Democrat MEP Baroness Ludford said medicines sold in cyber-space often contained toxic substances including paint and shoe polish.
A report has show that 95 per cent of sales online are made through unregistered pharmacies.
Baroness Ludford said: “In some of the worst cases, consumption of counterfeit medicines has led to long-term health problems and even death. At the other extreme, people buy worthless powder. I am backing efforts to end illegal and harmful activity while ensuring legal free trade of genuine products.”
