Poll points the way
• A RECENT YouGov poll of marginal constituencies has predicted that the Liberal Democrats are going to win Islington South and Finsbury at the next general election.
Given the hugely disappointing performance of our current Labour MP, Emily Thornberry, who continues to defend Gordon Brown long after he has lost credibility with the vast majority of the electorate, I cannot wait to see the back of her.
And while I will not be sorry to see Labour MPs lose their seats across the country, I remain strongly suspicious of the Conservative Party. I do not think anyone knows exactly what they stand for right now. Nor do I even know who the local Conservative candidate is.
I would rather have a relatively independent Liberal Democrat look after the interests of the people of Islington South and Finsbury under a David Cameron government.
The Lib Dems have a strong track record in Islington, unlike the Tories. And it is always Vince Cable, not Alasdair Darling, who seems to have the best answers during the current economic turmoil. I will continue to read the Tribune every week for news of how this campaign shapes up.
