Dancers join Aids battle
DANCERS will highlight the global fight against HIV and Aids later this month.
A joint production with Christian Aid, Ctrl.Alt.Shift involves youth dance groups from the UK and Namibia, and professional hip-hop dancers.
The dances are choreographed to tracks remixed for the occasion by Mike Skinner and GoldieLocks. Others involved include Creative Ambassadors, DJ Nitin Sawhney and Cuban dancer Carlos Acosta.
The show marks the 20th anniversary of World Aids Day next month. Sadler’s Wells artistic director Alistair Spalding said: “This project will not only be an opportunity to highlight the issues surrounding HIV/Aids but will also enable a cultural and creative collaboration which is at the heart of Sadler’s Wells’ artistic endeavours.”
It is being performed at Sadler’s Wells’ Holborn venue, the Peacock Theatre, in Portugal Street, on Saturday, November 22.
