School’s glowing report

AN Upper Holloway school which became the focus of a debate between private and state education has won praise from Ofsted inspectors.
Ashmount Primary School, in Hornsey Lane, was rated good in every category – and outstanding for the personal development and well-being of pupils.
The school featured in a newspaper and radio debate sparked by actress comedian Arabella Weir on the importance of parents supporting state schools rather than private education.
Ms Weir argued that there is so much that is positive about state schools. “At a state school your kids will learn to live alongside and appreciate other kids from many diverse and different cultures,” she said.
Lib Dem councillor Greg Foxsmith, who has a child at the school, said: “Well done to everyone at Ashmount. This brilliant report card comes as a clear reward for the progress the school has made at the heart of the community.
“The Ofsted inspector confirmed what parents already knew: this is an inspirational and aspirational place.”
