Councillors kick back for Christmas shindig
THE wine flowed, the banquet of nibbles was demolished and the great and the good of Islington mingled hard at Islington Council’s Christmas party on Thursday. Newspaper columnist Nick Cohen, Arsenal director Ken Friar and Tom Jupp, chairman of the Cripplegate Foundation were among the guests who gathered at St Mary Magdalene Academy for the
borough’s annual Christmas party.
Council leader James Kempton told the crowd: “This borough’s an absolutely magnificent place – whether it’s the work we’re doing for older people, the awards we’re winning for environmental sustainability or Alexandra Burke winning X-Factor. May I wish everyone in this community, even in these dire economic times, a prosperous new year.”
