Pressure mounts on Boris over 29 ‘horror’ route
LONDON Mayor Boris Johnson is being urged to reveal the true crime figures for the unloved and overcrowded 29 bendy bus, whose route includes Holloway and Seven Sisters. The service is so awful that fed-up passengers have even complained about it on the internet. People on Facebook – the social website – call the 29 bus a “horror” ride and on Wikipedia it is described as the third worst bus route in London.
Islington Lib Dems are writing to Transport for London (TfL) to say they think there is a serious problem on routes 29 and N29 (night bus) with overcrowding, reliability and anti-social behaviour.
Lib Dem campaigner Bridget Fox said she has “hated” this bendy bus for years but the issue became worse when she had her purse stolen on one.
TfL has stated so far that they don’t intend reviewing the service until January 2011 but that’s “unacceptable” according to Ms Fox.
She added: “We’ve now tabled a question to the mayor for an answer on March 25, asking him to step in and try and bang heads together, and to reveal the reported crime figures on this route.”
