Hunt for an Older Hero
• I AM searching for an older volunteer who has helped their community in Islington South and Finsbury. The winner will be invited to an Older Heroes Tea Party on the House of Commons terrace, be presented with a certificate and mingle with other Older Heroes.
Previous winners include Kathleen Hughes and Johnny Chilton. Kathleen won the award for setting up and running Braithwaite House Tenants Management Organisation. Johnny was a regular volunteer at Age Concern Drovers Centre in North Road.
To suggest someone for the Local Older Hero Award, write to me by April 17 stating who you would like to nominate and why and including your contact details and those of your nominee.
