Youth worker found hanged

IT took at least two weeks before a youth worker who hung himself over Christmas was found at his Holloway home, an inquest has heard.
Jamie Dewar’s body was discovered hanging in the hallway after police kicked down the door to his home on the Talbot House estate, in Hornsey Road, on January 9.
The 41-year-old, who was single and described as “good mannered” by his doctor, had been battling depression and bipolar affective disorder, a mental health condition associated with acute mood swings.
A St Pancras inquest on Tuesday heard that a Christmas card with a postmark of December 10 was found opened in the flat.
Coroner Dr Andrew Reid said: “Toxicology reports have not been available because of decomposition to the body. The evidence suggests he had been dead for two to three weeks.”
He added: “Mr Dewar died after voluntarily suspending himself from a ligature. He knew it was unlikely he would be found. It was his intention to take his own life.” Verdict: suicide.
