Male cyclist is pushed into canal

A CYCLIST in his 50s who works as a designer was pushed into a canal and then had his bike stolen at a tow-path near the Angel.
Islington CID is appealing for information and witnesses to the incident at around 6pm on Wednesday April 8.
The victim had been cycling along the Regent’s Canal tow-path, when he stopped for a break near Danbury Street, N1.
A male suspect suddenly approached the victim and pushed him in the chest causing him to fall backwards into the canal.
The suspect then grabbed the victim’s bike and ran away with it up the ramp in the direction of Danbury Street.
Two male members of the public helped the victim to climb out of the canal.
The main suspect is described as a white male aged about 30, about 5’ 9” tall, medium build, with short fair scruffy looking hair, wearing beige combat trousers and a sky blue short sleeve polo neck tee shirt with a dark stripe on the front.
He was with two other white males both of similar age; one was wearing a long black jacket.
DC Jason Shallis from Islington CID is investigating the incident.
Anyone with information should call him on 020 7421 0220 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
