Bus passenger attacked off-duty policeman
A BUS passenger who assaulted an off-duty police officer in Finsbury has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.
Francis Motsch, 20, punched and bit his victim outside a shop in City Road in November last year.
The off-duty officer had been asked by a 214 bus driver to escort three men off a bus.
Motsch began punching the officer in the face and head before biting into his cheek.
During the assault the victim’s head was banged against the ground, causing severe injuries. He needed facial surgery at a north London hospital.
Motsch and two other men ran off into Baldwin Street, but the accused was arrested at his home address in Camden Town three days after the assault.
He admitted assault when he appeared at Blackfriars Crown Court.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Matt Goode, of Islington CID, said: “Motsch being sent to prison for three-and-a-half years is a brilliant result, particularly in light of the fact that he pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and had no previous convictions.” |
