Finnish DJ found dead after night out clubbing
A POPULAR DJ who spent his weekends at goth night club Slimelight at the Electrowerkz venue in Angel was found dead at his Holloway home on Monday after a night out.
St Pancras Coroner’s Court opened an inquest on Tuesday into the death of Finnish national Sampo Ronkainen, who went by his middle name Tapani.
Mr Ronkainen, 27, was found dead in bed at his Sussex Way home by his girlfriend after a night out clubbing. She told police he had had a seizure when they got home, but he told her it was due to tiredness and dehydration, the court heard. She called an ambulance at 10pm after finding him unresponsive, several hours after she had woken up.
A post mortem examination was inconclusive and toxicology tests have been asked for. A request has been made by the Finnish embassy to have his body returned to Finland.
According to online profile pages, Mr Ronkainen worked in IT, but his real passion was music and dancing, and his dream was to set up his own alternative music club night called Dyskorded.
Coroner’s officer Rod Quilter said: “He was found dead by his girlfriend. “They had been out clubbing and returned home in the early hours and he had a seizure, which he said was due to dehydration and tiredness. At six o’clock she got up and at 10 o’clock she checked on him and found him unresponsive.” The inquest was adjourned until July. |
