Murder trial date fixed
THE family of “a lovely guy” stabbed to death at his workshop have heard that they face another lengthy delay before the trial of the accused killer.
Relatives were in court at the Old Bailey to be told that mental health issues concerning the alleged attacker are being investigated by leading psychiatrists.
Dominic Ryan, 20, of Hornsey Road, Upper Holloway – he also gave an address in Chingford – is charged with murdering David Stoute, 55, a father-of-four from Tottenham. Flanked by guards in the dock, he pleaded not guilty.
Mr Stoute, a highly skilled welder, helped run Hornsey Metalworks in Hornsey Road, where he suffered four stab wounds. Ryan was charged on September 15 last year.
Judge Gerald Gordon was told Ryan had been transferred from a young offenders’ unit to a secure mental health hospital for three months assessment. “Doctors are agreed that he is fit to enter a plea,” said the judge.
The trial, expected to last a week, was fixed for October 5. |
