Plain-clothes police grab phone snatcher
A TEENAGER stole a mobile phone from a woman in front of two plain-clothes policemen in Holloway this week.
The officers from Islington police youth engagement team were on bicycles in Holloway Road on Monday when they spotted the boy watching passers-by. He was then seen snatching a mobile phone from a woman as she was using it.
PCs Emlyn Hughes and Eddie Stevens later apprehended a teenager, who was questioned about a similar robbery in Upper Street earlier in the day.
The officers are part of a police team which was set up in October last year to tackle youth crime.
A 14-year-old boy from Highbury appeared in custody at Thames Youth Court on Tuesday accused of committing two mobile phone robberies in Islington on Monday. |
