Seven go missing
• ON Tuesday evening, I attended the council’s west area committee meeting. Usually it’s an opportunity for the public to question councillors. I was surprised that only five out of the 12 councillors on the committee could be bothered to attend. In total, one Lib Dem and six Labour councillors were absent.
With the high infrastructure costs of holding these meetings and with councillors claiming at least £10,000 a year in allowances, the very least we expect for them in return is to attend important council meetings.
It is just another example of why voters in areas such as Barnsbury and St Mary’s wards are calling for a change.
