Memories of No 60
• I AM researching the history of 60 Farringdon Road for a small book to mark the opening of The Free Word Centre here in September. I would love to find anyone with memories, photographs or memorabilia associated with this building or its immediate environs that we could include.
From 1875 to 1971, No 60 was the premises of William and Thomas Robson, wheelwrights and then car body builders, who originally lived in Wood Lane Highgate. I should particularly like to trace this family.
From 1979 to 2002, the building was used variously as a builder’s yard and as a mixture of studios, offices and workshops. Photomarkets, AKA Film and Television Services and the Community Music House are names that I have records of.
I would also like to hear from anyone who sold books on the Farringdon Road stalls.
Time is alas very short… any thoughts gratefully received.
