Hegley to bring poetic magic to kids’ big day out
WHITTINGTON Park will be transformed for The Big Day Out children’s carnival tomorrow (Saturday) featuring poet John Hegley.
It’s all part of the final weekend of the Holloway Arts Festival.
Today (Friday) festival-goers can enjoy classical and popular favourites from the Purcell School’s Elastic Band at St John Evangelist Church, Pemberton Road, at 4.30pm.
Graphic designer Storm Thorgerson, the man behind countless classic album covers for bands such as Pink Floyd, will be in discussion at the London Met University Tower building in Holloway Road at 7pm.
Up-and-coming comedy acts will perform at The Hideaway, 114 Junction Road, at 8.30pm.
On Saturday the magic of Alice’s Wonderland comes with the Big Day Out in Whittington Park at 1pm featuring music, street theatre, children’s shows, arts and crafts, film and a spectacular carnival parade.
Comedy lovers can enjoy an evening of laughter with Richard Herring, Dan Antopolski and Paul Lyalls at Hargrave Park School at 8pm.
There’s a chance to join the festival’s patron John Hegley at North Library on Sunday at 11am, or hear novelist Marina Lewycka, author of A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian, discuss her new book with a psychoanalyst at the Archway Methodist Hall at 3pm.
