Green picnic ‘Transitioners’ take aim at poor insulation and carbon footprints
CUCUMBER sandwiches and organic lemonade were on the menu at the weekend when an environment group invited locals to a picnic in Highbury Fields.
Transition Highbury, a group with a vision to transform Highbury into a low carbon zone by working with residents, groups and businesses, held a picnic at Highbury Fields on Saturday.
Transitioners are also in talks with Islington Council to find a plot of land in Highbury where they can grow food.
Future plans include a skills swap and teach-in day in September, an activity and discussion day in October and a symposium called “Be The Change” in November.
The group will also produce street-by-street insulation plans for Victorian
terraces.
