Boris’s shed load of trouble
MAYOR of London Boris Johnson has upset his new neighbours yet again- by putting up a shed on his Grade II-listed balcony without planning permission.
Late Wednesday night Mayor Johnson had carpenters scrabbling to take down the offending wooden structure after council enforcement officers – responding to residents’ complaints – intervened.
The wooden shed was erected more than two weeks ago on the balcony of the mayor’s Colebrooke Row home.
But council sources say it requires planning permission due to its size, position and construction materials.
A spokesman for the mayor said: “The mayor is grateful to Islington Council for their advice on this matter. The shed has been taken down.”
Islington Council leader councillor Terry Stacy said: “Boris in not above the law, he lives in a conservation area, and in a Grade II-listed terrace, these rules are there to protect the area, not wreck it with inappropriate structures. I’m delighted Boris has decided to take the structure down. ”
This is not the first time Mr Johnson has upset neighbours. His plans to put a cycle hire bay in Colebrooke Row has drawn criticisms that it will bring vandalism and anti-social behaviour to his neighbourhood. |

Your comments:
SO, why would Boris need a shed for a house that size? My guess is it that, like the Duke of Devonshire, he needs two pastry chefs & keeps his spare stock of Battenburg Cake in there - nyum nyum nyum!

MAYBE the shed was intended to house Boris' expensive chickens?
