Robbers shoot victim in head
ARMED robbers who shot a man in the head after stealing his car keys and mobile phone are still at large.
Detectives from the Met’s Trident shootings team are hunting the gunmen, who struck just before 9pm last Thursday, at Fallowfield flats, in Lennox Road, Finsbury Park.
The 23-year-old victim was in a communal area when he was assaulted by two men, both armed with handguns.
One struck him on the head with a gun before the robbers stole the keys to his BMW and three mobile phones.
The victim was then shot in the head. Police say he is expected to make a full recovery.
Both robbers made off in the victim’s grey BMW 1-Series, registration SD05HZJ.
The shooting victim managed to raise the alarm and was taken to a north London hospital, where he underwent surgery during which the bullet was removed. He has since left hospital.
One man has been arrested and detectives believe further arrests are imminent.
Trident’s Detective Sergeant Paul Dempsey said: “We are appealing for witnesses to this robbery, where the victim has been extremely fortunate to escape with his life. “The suspects are thought to be around 5ft 7in to 5ft 11in tall and aged around 20. Did you see them in the vicinity of Fallowfield around this time? Did you see them driving away after the shooting, or have information about the vehicle? “Anyone who sees the vehicle is urged not to approach it or the occupants, but to dial 999 immediately.”
Anyone with information can call Trident on 020 8733 4774 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
