Positive signs as ‘for sale’ boards removed
A CLEAN-UP of estate agents’ old signs has helped improve Archway’s streets and sent a clear message that the area is open for business.
It comes after residents and businesses asked Archway’s town centre manager if action could be taken on the number of expired “Sold” and “Let By” signs.
In parts of Junction Road and Upper Holloway Road many signs were on buildings that had long since been sold or rented. Council officers wrote to estate agents reminding them of planning rules: the signs must be removed within 14 days of a sale or let being completed.
Since May, 55 out-of-date signs have been removed.
Nic Sharpe, owner of St John’s Pub in Junction Road and a member of the Archway Town Centre Management Group, said: “I think this estate agent board clean-up is good news for Archway. “Buildings free of unnecessary clutter really make a difference to the look and feel of the area.” |
