Islington Tribune - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 4 September 2009

Crackdown at estate

• RESIDENTS on Six Acres estate near Finsbury Park will understandably be worried about security following the recent shooting there.
The council takes incidents like this very seriously and residents’ safety is our top priority. That’s why we have agreed with police that a dispersal zone covering streets and estates in the area will operate for the next six months.
This will allow police to focus their resources on tackling residents’ fears about drugs and reassure them that anti-social behaviour and intimidation disrupting people’s lives will not be tolerated.
This is one of the biggest dispersal zones the council has agreed because we know how residents’ lives are being made a misery and this requires concentrated action. I hope residents will start to see a difference.
CLLR BARBARA SMITH
Lib Dem executive member for community safety
