Park looks stunning
• I AM sorry, but what a load of old tosh Patricia Banke is talking about the lorries at Tesco on Islington Green (Trouble with lorries, August 28). It is nothing to do with who gave planning permission; it’s about Tesco being a good neighbour, and not driving us neighbours up the wall.
I am glad someone has taken the issue up, instead of just complaining about it. If Bridget Fox can actually do something about it, then good for her.
As for the so-called “destruction of the Victorian gem” that was Islington Green, she can’t be talking about the same park I use nearly every day: the one that had a crumbling war memorial, broken walls, crap seats and poor planting. Now the park looks stunning, with new seating, wonderful planting, more trees, new paving and more bins.
I’m not sure about the war memorial, but it certainly looks a lot better than what was there before. Over the summer, the park has been packed, and everyone I’ve spoken to has seen that the improvements have made a big difference to the area.
The new pedestrian area in front of Browns and Waterstone’s is great. It was a death trap and a parking nightmare before.
