Aftermath of tragedy
• HOMES for Islington (HfI) knows full well it has a legal obligation under a duty of care requirement (Smoke alarm tragedy of blaze victim, September 4).
The coroner should have demanded it meets its responsibilities forthwith. Coroners elsewhere have issued such demands after fatalities and they are generally adhered to.
Simply passing the buck by providing London Fire Brigade with tenants’ names is not acceptable. That the fire brigade is willingly taking on the responsibility does not reflect that well on HfI.
Why are tenant groups not pushing for fire alarms and perhaps carbon monoxide alarms?
