E-fit of suspect |
Help us find knifeman who stalked woman, police plead
DETECTIVES have relaunched an appeal to trace a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted rape close to Paradise Park in Holloway.
Police say the victim, who was assaulted in her home, has been caused “immeasurable distress”.
Although the attack happened in July, detectives from Islington’s Sapphire Unit are redoubling their efforts to catch the culprit. An e-fit has been issued in the hope of jogging the memory of anyone who may recognise the attacker.
It was about 4.30am on Saturday, July 18, when the 24-year-old woman left the number 19 bus at Highbury Corner and walked to her home near Paradise Park. It is believed the suspect followed her for part of the way.
As the victim entered her home, he pushed his way in and threatened her with a knife, demanding sex. He was frightened off when she called for help from her flatmates. No one was injured.
The suspect is described as aged between 25 and 30, from 5ft 8in to 5ft 11in tall, with brown eyes, short dark hair and stubble. He was wearing a dark shirt and light-coloured trousers.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Louise Howdle, said: “We are reiterating appeals to find this man who threatened and attempted to assault a woman in her home. The quick actions of the victim’s housemates prevented this man from sexually assaulting her. “This incident has caused the victim immeasurable distress and we continue to treat this incident with the utmost seriousness. “We appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or anyone who recognises the artist’s impression of the suspect, to contact us.” Anyone with information can call DC Howdle on 07748 110 823 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. |
